Tienta Sciences-Lab Connections: Launch of SpectLCTM Orlando, FL, March 13, 2006-Tienta Sciences, Inc, a supplier of integrated solutions for tomorrow’s bioassays, and Lab Connections, a supplier of analytical instruments and services, introduced the SpectLC™ at Pittcon today. The SpectLC is a new collection substrate for Raman spectroscopy. The inert, polished stainless steel plate of the SpectLC provides low background making it ideally suited to micro-Raman spectroscopy. The SpectLC is designed for use with Lab Connection’s LC-Transform, the most popular system for coupling the output from a Liquid Chromatograph to an FTIR spectrophotometer. Lab Connections and Tienta Sciences jointly developed the SpectLC sample collection substrate to extend this capability to LC-Raman experiments. Raman spectroscopy provides additional molecular structure information that is complementary to infrared spectroscopy. The SpectLC allows the same plate/deposits to be used for FTIR spectral collection and direct comparison of Raman and FTIR data. Together they can provide a complete picture of functional group activity Lab Connections is a supplier of analytical instruments and services built upon proprietary technology for LC-FTIR and LC-MALDI/MS. Applications include product deformulation, polymer characterization, drug identification, and impurity profiling. Lab Connection is a subsidiary of Leap Technologies, a provider of precise robotics and efficient sample prep equipment required by modern measurement techniques such as MALDI-TOF mass spectroscopy. Tienta Sciences is a start-up life science products company founded in 2003. Tienta is commercializing technology developed at Purdue University that sets new standards of accuracy and precision for measurement of biomolecules and enables standardization of measurements across multiple detection technology platforms. Tienta’s products have applications in forensics, life science research, drug discovery and clinical diagnostics.
