Product
Description
The SpectRIM™ Slide is a 3.0X1.0X0.1
inch plastic carrier with an optically flat 0.9X0.9 inch stainless-steel plate
coated with an ultra-thin (<50 nm) hydrophobic layer. The SpectRIM Slide is
ideal for micro-Raman and reflectance IR spectroscopy and reflectance light
microscopy. The dimensions of the SpectRIM Slide make it compatible with most
types of microscopic analyses and optical and robotic instrumentation for array
technologies, including high throughput devices.
The SpectRIM™ Slide’s substrate is a
chemically inert hydrophobic stainless steel surface, ideal for measuring small
quantities of material, especially from dilute solutions in polar solvents (such
as water). When applied to the substrate, the sample will bead up and dry with a
smaller diameter than when applied to an untreated surface. The ultra-thin
hydrophobic layer displays no appreciable Raman, IR or fluorescence signal.
Storage and
Handling
1. Store the SpectRIM Slides at room
temperature.
2. Avoid storing the slides in a damp
or moist environment.
3. Keep the slides in the box to avoid
any dust and contamination.
4. Avoid direct contact with the metal
surface of the slide to avoid contaminating or scratching the substrate.
5. Use the plastic areas of the slide
located on both sides of the coated metal substrate plate to handle the slide.
6. Do not touch the coated metal
area of the Substrate with a pipette tip! It can scratch the surface.
7. Re-using a substrate is not
recommended. Washing the Substrate can result in adsorption of traces of
contaminants on the surface or scratching of the surface thus significantly
compromising the hydrophobic and optical characteristics.
General
Precautions
1. This Tienta Sciences product is
sold for research purposes only.
2. The SpectRIM substrates are not for
use in human diagnostics or for drug purposes, nor are they to be administered
to humans in any way.
Liquid Samples
1. Hold the pipette tip just above the
substrate.
2. Dispense the sample.
3. If the sample hangs on the pipette
tip, slowly bring the drop in contact with the surface of the substrate.
4. Do not touch the coated metal area
of the Substrate with a pipette tip! It can scratch the surface.
Solid Samples
1. Drop the solid sample onto the
substrate.
2. Do not touch the coated metal
area of the Substrate! Touching the surface can scratch surface.
